Human body is a complicated structure, there’re a heaps of functions and organs are involved behind everything we do in our daily routine life. Endocrine system is one of the important systems operating within our body. Today, we will bring you a complete info about the endocrine system.
What is Endocrine System?
The endocrine system is a huge group of different glands producing hormones regulating growth and development, metabolism, tissue function, sleep, reproduction, sexual function, mood and other things. It consists of thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal glands, parathyroid glands, testicles (in males) and ovaries (in females) and pancreas.
The term endocrine comes from Greek words with the meaning of ‘’within secrete’’. Generally, a gland removes and selects materials from our blood, extracts all the necessary nutrients required to keep our body working. It affects every cell and organ in our body.
Hormones circulate throughout our body and each type of hormone is created for specific tissues and organs. Endocrine system takes some assistance from different organs such as liver, heart, kidney and gonads. The kidney, for instance, extracts hormones such as renin and erythropoietin.

Hormone level decides the overall working of endocrine system. If it is too high or too low, there could be a problem with endocrine system. It could lead to many severe diseases if our body doesn’t respond to hormones properly. Variations in blood fluid, infection, stress and electrolyte balance could also affect hormone levels.
Diabetes is the most common disease of endocrine system, a severe condition in which our body doesn’t process glucose properly. Other endocrine diseases include – Thyroid cancer, hypothyroidism, Hypoglycemia and more.
